Scouting Report

Lauren Cavoli is an extremely quick and athletic point guard who can also play shooting guard. She has earned the reputation of being one of the top on-ball defenders in the area. She has the ability to disrupt the game by her pursuit of the opponents ball handlers. She is a "defense first" player.

Lauren is also a tremendously skilled offensive player. She is comfortable as the primary ball handler on any team but also can play off the ball. Her strengths on offense include; using her hesitation dribble to freeze her defender and get to the rim and her outside shot. Lauren can both hit the three-point shot while at the point guard position but also can be the primary shooter when moved to the shooting guard position.

Lauren has a relentless work ethic and is always trying to perfect her game. She spends time with high-level basketball trainers, gets hundreds of shots up per week in her gym at home, and does strength training three times per week. In addition, Lauren's two older sisters are both college basketball players and she has grown up competing with them regularly. She also plays soccer which not only keeps her in shape but it has had a a tremendous impact on her lateral quickness.

Coach’s Evaluation

Lauren earned a starting position on our Team Pennsylvania Select 40 Team this past year. Her work in the off-season paid off and she came back a much more confident player on the offensive end of the floor. Lauren has always been a top defender on our team. Her ability to provide ball pressure on our opponent's point guard can change the game. This makes her hard to take off the floor.

Our coaching staff has asked Lauren to shoot the ball more and it has paid off. She is an excellent three-point shooter, this combined with her ability to constantly put pressure on her defender with the dribble makes her and our team very hard to guard.

As good as I feel about Lauren today, I remain so excited about where she can take her game in the future. She is a gym rat and has two older sisters currently playing in college as role models. This kid's future is bright.

Personal Message

Growing up in a basketball-minded family, this sport has always been a huge part of my life. With two older sisters ahead of me, I have always had role models and people to look up to. I love training and competing with them because they inspire me to be the best I can be. They are both currently playing in college, for division 2 and division 3 programs. As a smaller player, I have learned to use size to my advantage. Coaches and teammates describe me as gritty and aggressive in my style of play. I am known for my ability to annoy the other team’s point guard by playing tenacious on-ball defense. I am not afraid of my competition, no matter how big. I may not be the tallest on the court, but I certainly am the toughest. As a point guard, I also have a high basketball IQ and great court awareness. I know what plays to make, what players to look out for, and I can predict what the opposing team may do. My quick first step allows me to be a threat on the offensive side as well. Throughout elementary, middle, and high school, I have kept up with my grades academically. I take honors and AP classes and have maintained a 4.0 GPA all through high school. Teachers have described me as a wonderful and conscientious student. Basketball has been a part of me my whole life. I hope to continue this by playing basketball at the collegiate level. I can’t wait for what the future holds for me!
