Scouting Report

Sophia Formica is a highly skilled player who can play either the one or the two guard position. You will not meet a player that is more competitive which has made her a top performer in all "big game" situations. She has been raised in a strong defensive system and has developed the mentality to always compete at a high level in both a half court and full court system. She can reek havoc on the other team's backcourt.

Sophia has trained with top area trainers year-round for the last several years......and you can tell. Very few players in the 2024 class have more offensive skill than her. She is extremely shifty and opposing guards have a lot of trouble staying in front of her. To make her even harder to guard, she is an excellent three-point shooter with good range. This combination has made her one of the leading scorers on Team PA's top high school team.

Any school lucky enough to recruit Sophia will be getting an outstanding young lady who will live in the gym. There is no doubt that as good as she is today, her upside is limitless based on what she will do to push herself to be better in the months and years to come.

Personal Message

Basketball has always been a huge part of my life and I’ve always had huge passion and love for it. I was born with a competitive spirit and that has carried over into basketball and school which has helped me to strive to the best I can be. Basketball has presented me with so many opportunities and amazing people that have helped me to be able to be the best version of myself on and off the court. College basketball has always been a big goal of mine and that is what pushes me to work hard everyday. Basketball has taught me that proof is in the work and the importance of not being out-worked. I’ve learned the importance of leadership not just by voice but by example. I’ve learned to “weather the storm” and that there will always be ups and downs in life and basketball but it is always important to control what you can control. From the time that I started playing basketball I had a natural ability to handle the ball, and from then on I was constantly at a court or just outside, shooting and teaching myself new moves. I am a student of the game and I am constantly watching basketball every chance that I get. Many coaches that I have had comment on my abilities to score but also get everyone else on my team involved and my eye for passing the basketball. I believe that God has blessed me with energy that is infectious and I use that to positively impact and lead my team. Most importantly I am coachable and love to get better, I am willing to sacrifice and work for whatever is best for my team. I believe the my competitive edge is one of my biggest assets and I will continue to apply myself and put forth effort in school and on the basketball court. Playing college basketball at the next level is very important to me and I can’t wait for the opportunity to give the best version of myself to a basketball program!
