GIRLS

4th/5th Grade Girls: Alexis Hartwick- 

6th Grade Girls: Mandy Mullen– Played in High School from 2004-2008 at Titusville. Played 1 year at Pittsburgh before transferring to East Stroudsburg where she played 3 years of rugby. Coach at Susquenita from 2012-2017.

7th Grade Girls: Steve Day- Has been a successful youth coach in our area for many years.   He began coaching in Central Pa as he ran the Hershey and Lower Dauphin youth programs.  He also coached at Lower Dauphin HS as an Assistant and JV Coach  for several years.  Steve began his AAU career by leading his own club for 5 yrs.  His club was Ranked Nationally and placed 15th at the AAU National Tourney in Nashville Tennessee in 2012 out of over 300 teams in attendance.  He began coaching with the California All Stars AAU Club as a trainer.  Steves biggest passion is helping kids with their college recruitment as he helps place numerous kids in college programs yearly.  Steve played college basketball at Lincoln Memorial University and graduated with a Bachelors in Business Administration. Steve and his wife Michelle are the proud parents of 4 daughters including 3 that have played for the Team Pennsylvania program.

7th Grade Girls: Sara Desso- Current Head Coach at CD East Middle, started playing basketball in 2nd Grade before playing CYO from 3rd Grade-6th Grade at Prince of Peace. Moved into public school at Swatara Middle School and played up on East High Freshmen team in 7th & 8th Grade. Played and started Varsity all 4 years of High School at CD East (2011-2015). Senior Year she led the Panthers to a 33-3 record where they made it into the second round of the state tournament. Made the Mid-Penn playoffs, Districts and State Playoffs all 4 years of her High School career. In addition, she received the Hustling Award, Defense Award, and Red Cross Award. She continued her playing career at HACC for 2 years. Play AAU for 7 years and currently serves as a PIAA official. She currently plays rec basketball in the Women’s Summer League at Spooky Nook. She is a coach that will emphasize heart, hustle and push, meaning no one gives up, no one quits and gives 120% ALL THE TIME!

Assistant Coach: Nicole Froelich- Has coached youth basketball since 2002, with concentration on the girls 4th thru 8th grade level. Coaching philosophy of developing and improving a player’s strengths not concentrating on their weaknesses.  Nicole coached at Holy Name of Jesus the past 4 years and recently took a role coaching CD Select Travel Team.  This will be her second year with Team PA.

8th Grade Girls: Bob Felker- Current Head JV & Assistant Girls Varsity Coach at Central Dauphin having won back to back District III AAAAAA Championships, Former Collegiate Coach at Central Penn College, Named 2003 College Coach of the Year, Most overall wins in Central Penn History, Advanced Hoops Trainer specializing in Shooting, Strength & Conditioning and 5v5 Principles

8th Grade Girls: Kristin McGeough- Grew up in Pittsburgh and started her basketball career at Chartiers Valley. While in High School, Kristin’s team played in multiple state finals and set school records. After graduating from Chartiers Valley, she continued on to play collegiate basketball for four years at Shippensburg University. While at Shippensburg, Kristin played in the D2 NCAA March Madness Tournament facing off against her previous high school and AAU teammates. After graduating college, she accepted a teaching position at Cumberland Valley School District where she now teaches 7th grade history and coaches the CV Mountain View Middle School girls basketball team.

Assistant Coach: Chad Zeaser- Third year coaching for Team PENNSYLVANIA AAU, Coached 6th Grade Girls in 2019 and has continued with various Advanced Hoops training programs, Previously coached various Girls Rec Teams through Cumberland Valley Youth Basketball Association,  Also coached multiple Boys Travel Teams for CVYBA since 2009.

9th Grade Girls: Taylor Dippery- Administrative Assistant at Advanced Training Programs Inc., Coached TEAM PENNSYLVANIA AAU for the last 4 years, Coached CD Travel Select 5th/6th Grade Girls for two years and serves as DOO for CD Travel

Assistant Coach: Corey Dickerson- Julia R Masterman, 1000 pt scorer, Member of the Hunting Park Warriors AAU team in 96 & won the highly touted Adidas Big Time Tournament, Attended Kings College, named Division III newcomer of the year, MAC Conference MVP, All Time Leading Scorer (2,059 pts), MAC Conference Hall of Fame, Played 1 yr in Ireland professional basketball Super League while playing for St. Vincent. Played 2 yrs in Iceland winning a regular season championship as the leading scorer for Snaefell. Owner & Coach at Signal 5 Crossfit for 8 yrs

9th Grade Girls: Katelyn Costill- 

Assistant Coach: Jeff Hoffman- Assistant Girls Varsity Coach at Cedar Cliff High School. He was the girls JV coach at Cedar Cliff prior to that for the 2014-15 basketball season. In addition to his high school coaching, he has coached a variety of sports and teams at the rec, travel, and AAU levels.

9th Grade Girls: Craig Hale- Currently serving as the head coach of the middle school girls basketball team for the Millersburg Area School District. Has been coaching middle school basketball for nearly 20 years. He also coached varsity girls basketball at Millersburg for four years. In the past, he coached the middle school boys program at Millersburg for four years. He also served as an unpaid assistant coach for both the boys and girls varsity programs at the Millersburg School District. Currently going into his third season with Team PA.

11th Grade Girls: Aaron Gingrich- Varsity Asst Lewistown Area High School girl’s basketball 1994-1998 118-7 record, State Champs 1997, 1998, Head Boys Coach Lewistown Area High School and Mifflin County High School 1998-2014. Winningest boys coach in county history with 260 victories. Current head junior high girls coach and varsity assistant for Mifflin County H.S. Coached an independent team (H & G Law) in over 100 AAU games from 2017-2019.

Assistant Coach: Kenne Hall– Was a two year starting shooting guard at Germantown High School in Philadelphia. After graduating high school, he went on to play basketball at Burlington County Community College in New Jersey where he finished his career with over 1,900 points and was named a two time member of the all Garden State Athletic Conference team. With over 30 years of playing and coaching experience, he is focused on developing the youth in the Harrisburg area.

6th Grade Boys: Jason Davis- Played High School basketball at Susquenita, was the starting Power Forward his junior and senior seasons as well as the team captain his senior year. Also played 1 year of college basketball at Dickinson College. Has been a CYO basketball coach for 5 years at Saint Joseph in Mechanicsburg. Currently serves as the head JV coach (5th/6th grades) and assistant Varsity coach (7th/8th grades) at Saint Joseph.

6th Grade Boys: Dannie Wiley- love for sports began as a young boy growing up in West Philadelphia. Played football and basketball at the high school levels as well as Junior College Football. I love coaching the youth because I believe that basketball fundamentals will prepare the players for the trails and joys of life. Hard work, practice, discipline, fun, and teamwork are the building block for success. Seven years ago I was given the opportunity to Coach youth football for HYFA. During the 4 years I coached Football, our team went to the championship twice and we won once. Three years ago I began coaching HYBA Rec. league.  While there our team went to the championship twice. Last year I coached 5-6 and 7-8 grade Rec. basketball. Our 7-8 graders won the championship. My coaching strengths are, shooting, finishing around the basketball, rebounds and having a defensive mindset. 

7th Grade Boys: Aaron Gress- Current Head Coach of the Cedar Cliff 9th Grade Boys, Played Basketball & Baseball at Central Dauphin with Big 15 honors, Continued his career playing Baseball at Harford Junior College and played in the JUCO World Series in 2016, Played on the original TEAM PENNSYLVANIA AAU Team in 2015, Trainer at Advanced Hoops for the past 3 years and head trainer for the Central Dauphin Area Basketball Association Skill Builders.

7th Grade Boys: Greg Cavoli- Greg has coached basketball at all levels for the last twelve years.  He has coached on the girls side of Team Pennsylvania for the last five years.  He also has added a unique type of training to our program at his facility; The Cavoli Barn https://www.facebook.com/Cavoli-Barn-628374420965596/?modal=admin_todo_tour

8th Grade Boys: Sam Freeburn- An Alumni of Lower Dauphin. He was a guard  for 2 consecutive Lower Dauphin teams that saw District Playoffs. Sam is entering his 4th season with Team Pennsylvania. In the past 4 years, Sam has coached 7th, 8th, and 9th grade teams. Last season Sam coached the top 7th Grade Boys team to a winning season. Outside of Team Pennsylvania, Sam has coached at many different levels. He was the 6th grade coach for CD travel, a Varsity Assistant at Red Land, and most recently a Middle School Coach for Cumberland Valley. Sam brings a passion and intensity to the game that is infectious to his players. He not only teaches his players how to play, but to love the game as he does.

Assistant Coach: Andrew Fahringer- Played High School Basketball for Lower Dauphin, 4 year manager at Duquesne; 1 year as head manager and spent 4 summers as a runner at Hoop Group with 1 summer being head runner

Assistant Coach: Casey Caruso- Scored 1200 pts in HS Basketball, Penn-Live player of the month (multiple times), Penn-Live player of the year, Nominated for Mr. PA, Played in State Semi Finals, Runner up in PIAA District 3 Tournament all 4 years of HS, and played AAU basketball for Team Pennsylvania.

9th Grade Boys: Damon Blair-Jones- Four year player at Bishop McDevitt High School, 2015 District III Runner-Up, Trainer for Advanced Hoops, Volunteer and Coach for 3-Star Program and starting his third season as a TEAM PENNSYLVANIA AAU Coach.

9th Grade Boys: Sean Burke- Played at Central Dauphin and was the starting point guard and captain his senior year. Has been with the Advanced Hoops program from 6th grade to 11th grade and played on the showcase teams in 10th and 11th. For my coaching experience, I helped coach a high school level CDABA team and will be starting my second season with TEAM PENNSYLVANIA AAU.

9th Grade Boys: Malcolm Wertz- Has 25 years of experience coaching youth through high school level basketball. He started coaching CYO basketball in 1996 in Harrisburg at Saint Francis and worked his way into high school basketball taking the 9th grade coaching position at Bishop McDevitt in 2007 and advancing to the Head JV/Assistant Varsity Coach in 2012. He has coached at Cedar Cliff High School for 2 years and is currently at CD East as the Head JV/Assistant Varsity coach. In addition to coaching High School basketball he has ran his own AAU organization and is still heavily involved with CYO basketball. He is very excited to play a vital role in developing the youth into good people as well as basketball players. He believes sports can teach valuable life lessons. Coach Malcolm R. Wertz currently resides in Harrisburg and is a project manager for a construction company which blends in with his blue collar style.

10th Grade Boys: Aaron Yancey- Dribbling, Shooting, Quickness/Agility & Defensive minded trainer. Coach Aaron Yancey has been around the game of basketball for his entire life having served as the Middle School Head Coach at Susquehanna Twp. for three years, an Advanced Hoops AAU Showcase Head Coach for nine years, an Advanced Hoops Trainer for 13 years and the Director of Operations for the 3-Star League. Has guided the most players into college programs than any coach at Advanced Hoops/TEAM PENNSYLVANIA AAU.

10th Grade Boys: Nate Miller- Has been coaching in the Harrisburg area for 9 years. He started as an assistant for Advanced Hoops under Coach Aaron Yancey back in 2012. Nate has been involved in the AAU world of coaching the past 3 seasons for the Nook Raiders. Coach Nate was the boys freshman head coach and JV/Varsity assistant at Cedar Cliff High School for 3 seasons (2016-2019) and then moved up as the Junior Varsity Head Coach for the 2019-2020 season. He is currently the Boys Freshman Head Coach and JV/Varsity Assistant at Central Dauphin East High School.

11th Grade Boys: Erik Larson- Starting his fourth year with Team Pennsylvania.  The previous 3 years he coached the Class of 2021 that featured Elon commit Sam Sherry, Nate McGill, Ben Drury, Tyree Morris, Kenyon Elliot, Mike Marable, Owen Doyle, Asher Kemble Darrien Berrios Rivera and Justice Easter. Previous to Team PA, Erik coached with the Maryland 3D basketball club.  He coached over 15 Division I, 15 Division II and 60 division 3 athletes.  He also coached and trained Jalen Smith who now plays with the Phoenix Suns. Erik also has experience working with DMVelite basketball organization, developing their scouting and evaluation and organizing and operating tournaments and camps. Erik’s has coached at the Community College at Essex and North County High School where he developed All American and League Player of the Year, David Ford.  He is a graduate and 4 year starter at McDaniel College.  He is currently enrolled in the MBA program at West Chester University. His son Finlay is a regular at Advanced Hoops.

11th Grade Boys: Charlie Fortney- Owner of Advanced Hoops & TEAM PENNSYLVANIA AAU, Played High School Basketball for the Steel High Rollers, Division I Shooting Guard at UNC Greensboro, played professionally in the CBA, 3pt Shooting Champion in the EBA, Teaches Shooting to fit every level of play, responsible for so many top shooters in South Central Pennsylvania year after year.
